Industry & trade sector restructuring passed

VGP – The PM has passed a restructuring scheme for the industry and trade sectors in favour of the cause of industrialization and modernization and sustainable development by 2020 with a vision towards 2030.

The scheme targets to speed up the transformation of economic mechanism, improve growth quality, labour productivity and competitiveness. 

It also aims to renovate the sectors' operational organization, build a State management model on energy in accordance with the demands for socio-economic development.

Accordingly, the restructuring scheme focuses on industry, energy, trade and international integration.

Particularly, the scheme targets to develop high-value-added industries; nurture the development of auxiliary industries, high-tech industries and reduce industries which heavily consume resources and minerals as well as low-skilled industries.  

Accordingly, heavy industries will center on renovating technologies and shifting production structure especially on mechanics and metallurgy, chemical, rubber. 

Auxiliary industries will serve for the electronic sector and mechanics. Investors will be encouraged to join large-scale projects on steel, nonferrous metals, exploitation of minerals and chemical.

Mechanics will prioritize researches to design new products and technological transfer, particularly on some products like agricultural machines, auxiliary spare parts and shipbuilding.

Meanwhile, light industries will focus on such commodities as garments and textiles, leather shoes, plastics, beverage, cigarettes, paper and vegetable oil.  

The scheme also notes the importance of restructuring operational models of the energy sector, especially the electricity generation.

Regarding the trade area, the Strategy on exports and imports for the 2011-2020 period with a vision towards 2030 will be implemented with a view to developing exports and diversifying export and import markets, particularly for raw materials./.
