PM Nguyen Tan Dung made that statement in his speech at the plenary session of the 21st Conference of the Parties (COP 21) to the UNFCC on November 30 in Paris, France.

"We are here to express our commitments to advocating and enhancing the negotiation and approval process of the post-2020 global climate agreement," he said, adding that the agreement needs to ensure the fair contributions of all nations and equality in issues in terms of mitigation, adaption, finance and technology development and transfer.

He also suggested that developed countries should take the lead in realizing their commitments and support developing nations to successfully implement the agreement.

Since 2000, Viet Nam has actively launched the national target programs and strategies on responding to climate change in all fields with realistic measures despite economic difficulties, confirmed the Vietnamese PM.

In the post 2020 period, the nation commits to reducing 8% of the gas emissions and the figure would be up to 25% if it receives effective assistance from the international community, he said.

To successfully implement the approved 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development in New York in September 2015, PM Dung proposed the international community should deliver strong political commitments and effective cooperation in strictly and effectively realizing new global climate agreement.

He affirmed Viet Nam’s strong commitments to joining hands with the international community in response to climate change, heading to a clean and green future development for the next generations.
